Visual Identity
Full disclosure: Dom P. Art is actually me!
Fresh in the graphic design/illustration industry, I chose to focus my work on illustration rather than graphic design and thus, created an artistic alias;
Displaying my work on social media, I operated as an illustrator for more than 2 years, occasionally working as a graphic designer on a few projects.
Due to the style of illustrations I was producing, I wanted to have a “light » vibe in my visual identity.
I didn’t have a specific idea but I knew I wanted my visual identity to be inspired by the comic-book world and also to feel “handmade” with a touch of professionalism.
It all started with the logo itself. I found a handwritten font which I tweaked a little bit and settled for a yellowy-orange on a blue background (both colours have been carried over in the By Your Side’s visual identity!).
For the comic-book element, I got inspired by the Kirby Dots and I decided to create a graphic element that I could use in the background of my designs.
Finally, as I was reluctant to show my actual face, I drew a mascot which I then used in several social media post as well as profile pictures and banners.
